The Yard
The former FBM shipbuilding yard was acquired to launch the British America’s Cup team GBR Challenge 2001 – 2003, and has now been transformed into a thriving boat yard at the centre of world yachting. With specialist boat builders and engineers close by, the largest travel hoist on the island, and undercover storage in Cowes, the Medina Yard has fast become the obvious choice for boat owners and businesses alike.
Location
Medina Yard is located on the west bank of the Medina River in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The main entrance for vehicles is only minutes from the floating bridge connecting West and East Cowes. The close proximity to both Red Funnel passenger and vehicle ferries means quick and easy access for non island residents.
The yard and waterfront areas are sheltered and well protected in most weather conditions.
Access to the boat hoist can be accommodated at all stages of the tide for most vessels. There is a minimum maintained depth of 1.2m in the travel hoist dock.
The site is also protected by 24 hour security with CCTV and security gates at all entrances.
